I am a SP with >15 years experience. Besides the fact that the PLS 5 is damn hard and complicated to administer (going between test toys to stimulus books) it misses nearly everything. The PLS 5 needs to be linked closely with language and vocabulary norms, as well as remove so much weight from parent response in the early years. After rapport is build, clinical skills should be used, versus parent reporting.
It is crucial that the assessment picks up concerns so children can access supports that they need early on.
