photo 1Today I am reviewing a recent app by the Virtual Speech Center called “Auditory Memory Ride” which is aimed at improving immediate memory and information recall in children with processing disorders.

App Categories:

  • Digit recall
  • Recall of words and sentences
  • Detail recognition
  • Paragraph recall

The app includes both recognition and recall tasks with the ability to delay the presentation of the stimuli by 5, 10, or 15 seconds. Background noise can be enabled and adjusted based on the student’s needs in the Settings

Begin by pressing on the Start button and entering a student’s name. After that, select the areas and levels you want to target. You can also customize the level for the student by editing your selections via tapping on the Edit button to  select/ deselect existing targets.

Depending on what skills you are working on the student may be required to recall orally presented stimuli,

or answer listening comprehension questions.

photo 1You can take notes on the student’s performance by tapping on the button located on the left hand side of the screen and when the student answers a preselect number of questions they can earn the opportunity to play a game.

photo 4 When you are finished, you can review student’s results, generate a report by goals or by dates as well as email the results if needed.

What I like about this app:

  • The skills are arranged in a hierarchy of complexity
  • You can customize the app and take notes on the students performance
  • The short orally presented paragraphs are relevant to current topics and daily events
  • Students are provided with a variety of cues and prompts necessary process the presented information including yes/no as well as multiple choice answers, along with open ended questions

You can find this app on iTunes for $19.99 or you can enter my Rafflecopter giveaway for a chance of winning your very own copy.
